Western Specialty Contractors Completes Sidewalk Waterproofing Project at Boston Office Building

70 Franklin St Sidewalk

BOSTON, MA, UNITED STATES, August 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Western Specialty Contractors’ NYC Metro branch has completed a waterproofing project at an office building in Boston, MA.

Serving as the prime contractor, Western recaulked the entire sidewalk along the building’s front face and installed an elastomeric joint filler between the sidewalk and the adjacent city-owned surface. The work was designed to create a flexible, watertight seal at the joint and help protect the area from moisture intrusion.

Shortly before the project was scheduled to begin, Western encountered an unexpected material challenge when the original elastomeric system manufacturer was unable to provide the specified product because weather conditions had made its warehouse inaccessible. To prevent a project delay, Western leveraged its relationship with a local material manufacturer to identify and obtain a suitable replacement product.

The project engineer reviewed and approved the product substitution, allowing Western to secure the material on the day of mobilization and complete the scheduled installation that weekend without interruption.

“Being able to respond quickly was critical to keeping this project on schedule,” said Rob Caputo, Project Manager at Western Specialty Contractors. “Our team worked closely with the manufacturer and engineer to identify an approved solution, secure the material and complete the installation without delaying the customer’s project.”

The project began and was completed in May 2026. Western finished the work on time and within budget to the satisfaction of the project team.
